Der sammler Arno Stolz - the Arno Stolz collection
"Arno's simple idea was a stroke of genius. The reduction to this small container has inspired us all." Erik SpiekermannArno Stolz, a professional typesetter, has a unique private collection of graphic arts and typographic treasures at his home. In 1980 he began writing letters to prominent designers from around the world, asking for creative contributions to fill the compartments of several typesetting boxes. The result is a miniature gallery of almost 300 unique pieces carried out in these relics from the old days of printing. The collection is enhanced and supplemented by the extensive correspondence with the designers for almost three decades, which is in itself very valuable. Both the artworks and the remarkable collection of letters and New Year's cards are presented for the first time in this publication.Collection of typographic works in type cases Pieces for the special format requested from artists and designersExtensive correspondance of Arno Stolz with the donorsWith articles from contemporary art magazines on selected artists
