This book does not aim at documenting, in a rigorous way, the history of a number of people having participated in the international influence of Geneva. Its intention is to offer a look — somewhat more light-hearted than scientific — upon the lives of these people; hence showing that Geneva’s identity is indebted to a multitude of foreigners, refugees, exiles or immigrants who, with their skills, talents and strengths, have worked to make this city the place of tolerance, openness and peace that it is today.
