The recent surge in anxiety disorders has brought with it a growing fascination with spiritual themes, as people seek to make sense of society’s increasingly rapid and seemingly aimless evolution. Can the world's bestsellers — the holy books, reprinted endlessly for generations — still provide answers to the pressing questions of modernity? For millennia, humanity has turned to the written word to grapple with life’s most profound mysteries, often without success. Now, it is time for the ninth art to take on these questions, offering fresh perspectives and perhaps more satisfying answers. In this spirit, ten international comic artists from eight countries have joined forces to create a new holy book — one that explores themes absent from existing sacred texts. Holyburger tackles the urgent questions of our time with an innovative and authorial approach. Through comics brimming with much-needed vitality, it examines topics such as gender equality, cloning, the fringes of evolution and sexual reproduction, rituals, and the purpose of earthly and cosmic existence — even delving into the nature of the universe before the Bing Bang.
