New Orleans-Haiti 1992-2005
In 1992, a vessel full of illegal migrants travels from Haiti to the United States. A storm forces them to land in the bayous of New Orleans, among them a woman with a baby boy. The trafficker, wanting to eliminate witnesses, murders all of them except the little boy. Joseph, a trapper, finds the boy and holds him. He is arrested for their murder and ends up in Orleans Parish Prison. In 2004, New Orleans, an evil Vodou (Bokor) priest, seeks subjects to perform in his spell-binding trance ritual. He kidnaps and murders women and boys to bind a (loa) spirit named Madelaine. A Haitian child kidnapping network has extended its claws into New Orleans society in parochial and political spheres. They are active as human traffickers in what are called ''restavecs'' In August 2005, Hurricane Katrina is nearing. Time is running out to save the victims of the Bokor and to unravel the political corruption that plagues the New Orleans Justice system. All the time, the Vodou spirits Papa Gede, the Baron Samedi, and the Loa Madelaine fight injustice.
