L’Abbaye du Boucheix, Notre-Dame du Valluisant, fondée en l’an de grâce 1192, était la nécropole des Comtes d’Auvergne. L’austérité de son architecture romane cistercienne sous la règle de Saint Bernard, et les gisants prestigieux, affiliés aux têtes couronnées d’Europe, exposés dans cette Abbatiale royale, ne sont plus qu’un lointain souvenir. La Révolution française allait détruire ce symbole de l’aristocratie auvergnate. Construite à Yronde-et-Buron au lieu-dit Le Boucheix,elle n’est plus, depuis 1791, que ruines et masures.
