Maria Antas est finlandaise suédophone et spécialiste en littérature. Elle a travaillé comme chercheuse, critique littéraire et coordinatrice de plusieurs projets littéraires internationaux, par exemple pour certains pays invités d’honneur à la Foire du livre de Francfort. Pendant longtemps, elle habitait en Finlande, or après quelques années à Berlin, elle vit aujourd’hui à Stockholm, où elle travaille pour le Conseil des Arts, dans l’équipe Swedish Literature Exchange. D’après elle, l’essayistique est un genre qui inspire à la fois la pensée et le sentiment. Aucun thème est trop petit pour être examiné – dans le quotidien se cachent des réseaux complexes de politique, d’économie et de genre.
