Rangi

His grandmother Kui teaches him the legends and the role of the kaitiaki, guardian of the land. When he becomes an adult, he protects the forest, plants trees, and teaches his people. He becomes a respected leader and gives his mission to Maui, a young man he trains. After his death, his spirit continues to watch over nature.
