Après nous avoir invités à lire le troisième évangile en fixant notre regard sur le beau visage de Jésus de Nazareth, les auteurs poursuivent la lecture de l'oeuvre de Luc en son deuxième volet, les Actes des Apôtres. Dans « Le Beau Christ en Actes » nous contemplons encore « la beauté du Christ à l'oeuvre, le bel agir du Christ » au long des événements qui se sont déroulés après l'Ascension, de Jérusalem jusqu'à Rome. Que Pierre agisse ou que ce soit Paul, Étienne ou Philippe, c'est toujours sous l'action de l'Esprit Saint. Plus encore, c'est Jésus lui-même qui poursuit son oeuvre en s'effaçant en leur personne. Chacun à son tour, apôtre et témoin du Christ, est conduit à prendre une initiative, à trouver un comportement, dans la fidélité à ce qu'a vécu Jésus et avec l'assurance qu'il est porteur de sa présence. Lu sous cet angle, le livre des Actes des Apôtres est propre à stimuler notre capacité à inventer, avec la même audace et la même liberté, les modalités de notre présence et de notre action, à nous qui sommes les témoins du Christ pour le monde d'aujourd'hui. Avec aussi la conviction que le Beau Christ que nous admirons est toujours à l'oeuvre avec nous, même si, comme pour les disciples d'Emmaüs, nos yeux sont « empêchés de le reconnaître ».--After inviting us to read the third Gospel while fixing our gaze on the beautiful face of Jesus of Nazareth, the authors pursue their reading of Luke's works in his its second volume, The Acts of the Apostles. In Le Beau Christ en Actes, we contemplate once more ‘the beauty of Christ at work, the beautiful actions of Christ' in the events following the ascension, from Jerusalem to Rome. Whether it is Peter who is taking action, or Paul, Stephen or Philip, they always do so under the influence of the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, it is Jesus himself who carries out his work through them. Each apostle and witness to Christ is led in turn to take an initiative, adopt an attitude, in fidelity to what Jesus has undergone, confidant that they are the bearers of his presence. Read from this angle, the book of the Acts of the Apostles will serve to stimulate our capacity to invent, with the same boldness and freedom, the nature of our presence and actions, we who are Christ's standard-bearers in today's world. And with the confidence that the Beautiful Christ we admire is ever working through us, even if, like the disciples at Emmaus, our eyes are ‘prevented from recognising him'.
