C'EST A LA NUIT DE BRISER LA NUIT - LETTRES A DIDIER 1 (1964-1974)

Écrivain trop tôt disparu, Vincent La Soudière (1939-1993) n'aura publié de son vivant qu'un recueil de proses poétiques, « Chroniques antérieures » (Fata Morgana) qui ne pouvait laisser soupçonner l'ampleur de sa production. Henri Michaux, dont il fut l'ami, a dit de lui : « ... je sais qu'il n'écrira jamais rien de gratuit. Ce qu'il fera connaître est important. » Cet auteur méconnu laisse de nombreux écrits fragmentaires, et surtout le témoignage bouleversant de son itinéraire intérieur dans la considérable correspondance qu'il adressa à son ami Didier. Peu d'événements auront marqué cette vie, qui se confond avec la quête inlassable d'une vérité intérieure cherchée avec la ferveur désespérée d'un alchimiste. « Car c'est à la nuit de briser la nuit. Et de cette estocade naîtra une blanche échelle de corde pour surmonter la terreur. » Dans ce premier volume, couvrant dix ans d'une correspondance qui s'étendra sur près de trente années, cet auteur exigeant cherche, à l'instar d'un grand nombre de ses prédécesseurs en littérature, un salut existentiel à travers l'écriture d'une oeuvre. Cette quête toutefois connaîtra une transformation radicale, qui le fera passer de la révolte à la foi. 0n en trouvera le témoignage dans les volumes qui suivront.--A writer who left us too soon, Vincent La Soudière (1939-1993) published only a collection of poetic prose entitled ‘Chroniques antérieures' (Fata Morgana) during his lifetime, not enough to convey any idea of the extent of his production. Henri Michaux, his friend, said of him, "I know he'll never write anything just for writing's sake. What he wants to make known matters." This little-known author has left many fragments of writing, the most important being a poignant testimony of his interior journey, to be found in his rich correspondence with his friend Didier. Few events marked his life, which takes the form of a relentless quest for inner truth carried out with the desperate zeal of an alchemist. "For the night must break the night. And from that deadly impetus will emerge a white rope ladder, to climb beyond terror". In this first volume, covering ten of thirty years' correspondence, Vincent La Soudière seeks existential salvation through the writing of a book, like many of his predecessors in literature. However, his quest was to undergo a radical transformation which took it from rebellion to faith. His testimony appears in the following volumes.
